From 1903 & Still Going Strong!
One thing is for certain and that is the Harley Davidson name certainly requires no introduction. Indeed, there is just no mistaking the look and sound of a Harley when it passes you on the highway. They're a brand of big heavy bikes that are built in the great state of Wisconsin. Entirely designed and made in the USA!
Harley-Davidson got its humble start when William Harley and Arthur Davidson produced the first production motorcycle in 1903. The motorbike was to be a racing bike, and was built in a small wooden shed with the words Harley-Davidson Motor Company written on the front door. One year later Harley-Davidson had put out 3 production motorcycles for the public. In 1905 Harley-Davidson wins its first race and hires its first employee. By 1906, the first fifty motorcycles were manufactured. Two years later, in 1908, Harley-Davidson sold the first motorcycle to be used in police service to the Detroit Police Department.
In 1912 H-D started building its 6 story factory and exports its first bikes to Japan, the first time sales were extended outside of the United States. 1914 marks the year H-D formally enters itself into the national racing circuit, and is quickly known as "The Wrecking Crew" for its dominance in the racing industry. By 1917 one-third of all motorcycles produced would be sold to the military, and was also the start of the Service School for Harley-Davidson Mechanics, for both military and civilian bikes. |

Harley Davidson never stopped tweaking and improving their models. Today, Harley Davison produces millions of motorcycles for use on every corner of the world. The distinct engine roar and loud vibrations through their tailpipes allow onlookers to hear the motorcycle far before it is visible. Listening to the strength of a Harley Davidson engine is an experience few will forget. Todays Harley Davidson owners don’t ride Harley motorcycles because they’re great looking or get phenomenal gas mileage. No, owning a Harley Davidson is a statement of freedom. A statement about finding the open road and opening up the throttle, letting the engine roar and the wind rip by you as you leave the daily grind behind. Owning a Harley means owning a piece of the American dream. Even if you don’t ride motorcycles you still love to look at them, touch them and sometimes even sit on them in the showroom floor, or maybe when the owner of a bike is not looking, you may even fantasize about cruising down the road doing about sixty miles an hour with the wind blowing in your face, while the song born to be wild is blasting in your head. It’s feeling a sensation of freedom that can only come from riding a Harley. It’s that very familiar sound only a huge powerful Harley engine can make that excites you as you feel the power rumbling under your body becoming one with the bike. When your cruising along there is absolutely nothing that can compare to the exhilarating feeling of riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle, even if it's only a dream. We can all appreciate the most beautiful and popular motorcycle in the world. Harley Davidson is an icon; it is an example of American greatness, our ingenuity and engineering, unsurpassed quality, a symbol of American freedom which is also an example to the world. Harley Davidson has built a reputation of being the best. Even in a day and age where choppers are all the rage, dominating television shows and biker build offs the Harley Davidson stands as the king of the proverbial motorcycle mountain. Even most custom bike builders own a Harley Davidson or use various Harley Davidson accessories, parts, and engine blocks in their designs. Some of the best custom bikes in the world are still powered by Harley Davidson muscle. |

A Symbol of American Freedom!
Harley Davidson is definitely a symbol of American freedom and rightly so because it has accompanied our American forces in all our wars starting back to 1917 when we had to kick Poncho Villa’s butt in Mexico. Shortly afterwards Harley Davidson motorcycles went with our troops to Europe to fight in World War I. Harley Davidson survived the great depression, something that many American companies did not do. Next Harley Davidson motorcycles were back in the war this time in Europe during World War II where our GI’s used them to fight and eventually liberate all of Europe. Harley Davidson is now a house hold name in these countries, our military forces relied on these tough, battle tested and proven machines, even using them in the Korean conflict following WWII. They are still used today by many militaries around the world not just ours. Special Forces use specially designed and equipped Harley Davidson’s to execute military and support operations. Harley Davidson motorcycles have been serving Americans in peace time and in war for a hundred years, and continue to do so today. At one point in the nineteen twenties Harley Davidson was the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the entire world who sold their motorcycles to sixty seven other countries. |

The American Rebel!
Harley Davidson manufactures roughly 7 lines with over 30 different models creating the perfect bike for every body type, purpose, and price range. From the classic cruiser Soft Tail and Road King models to the sleek new V Rod frame, there’s bound to be a number of Harleys for sale that meet every individual demand. You can even customize your bike right from the factory.
Sure, everyone can own a Harley. But not everyone can ride a Harley Davidson like they are meant to be. No, Harley’s aren’t for the mamby pamby momma’s boy, or the uptight straight laced risk assessment specialist. Sorry boys, this isn’t your thrill. Harley’s are especially designed with the American rebel in mind. You don’t have to be the bad ass to ride a Harley, but you do need to long for the open road. Harley Davidson motorcycles are about freedom, about spending all work week longing for the open road and when the weekend finally arrives tearing out of the garage like a Green Beret parachuting into enemy territory, with purpose. Yeah, that’s what our bikes mean to us.
